what's going on?

So I recently got on the pill (birth control) for regulating purposes only. I am not sexually active so they're not for contraceptive use, but to help ease the cramps and regulate flow. Anyway, so I started it last Monday and this Tuesday I started ovulating, but that came with brown discharge and bleeding. This has never happened to me before so I think it's safe to assume that it's the pill right? My question is, has it happened to anyone else? I don't think it's like urgent care situation, but should I see my OB/GYN?
