Cranky at 10 weeks. Temperament or Mood Change Typical?

My LO is very alert and has a great sleep and feeding schedule. Sure it changes almost as quickly as when I get to a routine, his patterns shift a little. However, I'm starting to notice that he is becoming crankier and more irritable. He still coos and smiles when we play, however, his temperament isn't as calm as it used to be, and he cries more often and louder to signal that he is uncomfortable or irritated. My aunt says it's the baby's growing and getting consciousness, knowing what they like and don't like. I think that's a great way of putting it. Just wanted to see if anyone else is going through mood spells or temperament change with their LOs at this time and how you're handing it.
