Gestational diabetes medication?

Habe any of you started out controlling GD with diet and had to add in medication? How was the decision made? What medication did you start? How did it go?

My nutritionist had me on the diet for a week and see what my numbers were, she added in some medication to take with bed time snack since my fasting numbers were always high then later on i had to switch to insulin since the meds werent working anymore

Metformin. We are currently working out a dosage that works. I was first diagnosed with hypoglycemia but my levels are never consistent. Some way to high, some way to low. The Metformin is supposed to help that .

I tried with diet for 2 weeks but did not knew the correct quantity my levels where around 150-160 1hr post meal and sometimes even 200. Then i saw nutrician and i was put on Metformin 500mg pill a day with my breakfast and even corrected my diet with meat and brocolli with less carbs now my levels are good and always before 130. Believe me its not at all hard to control with diet

I have to take insulin before breakfast bc that is when the pregnancy hormones are most out of whack and hard to control with diet. I inject 10 units (very small amt) of insulin right before eating. All my other meals and times of day are controlled by diet and exercise. Is it fun injecting insulin? Not at all. But since the alternative is having slightly high blood sugar that could negatively affect my daughter, I do it gladly.
