hospital stay length?

I've heard mixed things. Some people have said "Stay in the hospital as long as you can," to have the nurses help with recovering as much as you can. We found out at our hospital tour (for a vaginal birth with no complications) that the maximum amount of time we will be there is 36 hours. Is this crazy short? How long do you expect to stay in the hospital? I feel like my head is going to spin. Some nurses say that the hospital is under new management and they just want to move people out as fast as they can. Not sure how to feel about it. Any opinions or experiences would be great! Thanks! 😊

Its becoming the norm for 24hr stays for vaginal no complication. With my previous two it was 2 days stay things are changing.

My insurance paid for three days, six if you had a c section. My hospitals policy was a minimum of 24 hours, so i stayed that long and then got the hell out of there. Hospitals are not comfortable. I wanted to sleep in my own bed and shower in my own bathroom.

The hospital i work at in Ontario keeps vaginal deliveries approx 26 hours (have to wait until the baby is 24 hours old to do the metabolic screening and jaundice test - takes about an hour to get results of jaundice to clear baby to go home), and c-sections get "2 sleeps". Obviously if there's complications we keep them longer but typically the stays are quite short.

At the hospital I'm delivering at they have you stay 2 days for a vaginal birth and 3 days for a C section. Honestly I thought this was the norm at every US hospital, unless you have complications. I've never heard of anyone staying longer 3 days if everything has gone well.

At the hospital I work at, 48hrs is standard. If the baby was born later in the night, they discharge the morning after 48 hours.

I was in for 2 days after my c section and could not wait to get home! Honestly being home was way calmer and more comfortable.. as long as everything is ok with baby & mommy you should be there no more than 2/3 days.

My hospital with my first kept you 6 hours with a normal vaginal birth. 36 hours is crazy long. I was kept 24 due to the lactation counsellor not being there and because i gave birth at 7 35 so it was a new day just starting plus i was given an episiotomy. Being there 24 hours sucked big time. The next time i was there about 6 only because i gave birth in the middle of the night and i didnt want to wake my son up arriving at 4 am. That was okay

With my son I went in on Saturday morning, had him that night at 9:52, and didn't get to go home until Tuesday afternoon. He was a large baby (10lbs) so they had to keep him longer to keep check on his sugar. I got to stay because I was his food source.

My hospital keeps you 2 nights following avahinak birth and at least 3 following a c section.  If you give birth at 1 though that does NOT count as night 1.  You get the following night and the next nightso you basically there almost 4 days.  That happened to me at first I was a little irritated and now with #2 I'm hoping the same situation unfolds.  That extra day way so nice.

I went in on Monday morning around 10am
Gave birth that same day @7:09pm
Went home Wednesday at about 2pm

So a 2 night stay after a vaginal birth
