Do you think that you can love animals but still eat meat?

I hate when I see people tweet things saying "if you eat meat you can't love animals, it's impossible" like I find this very dumb. I once risked my life trying to save a cat on the street and the only reason why cars stopped is because it seen a human and cat was able to make it back across. Like if me RISKING my life to save an animal isn't love then idk what is. Half of my family is Native American and for the longest used their own animals for meat, but loved animals and seen them as equals to humans so I don't see the correlation. What do you think?
