Friendships & Relationships...?

Hi everyone.. So I'm curious and have been going back and fourth on this situation in my head for sometime now and would be grateful for positive feedback. I have been living with my boyfriend for about 4 months now. Things are going great, but there is one minor issue that is constantly holding me back from moving forward with him. We have been together for almost a year, and it seems as though it has come to the point where there is some slight jealousy on his behalf where he wants to control who I socialize with. He has asked me to cut a very important person out of my life who yes I used to have a romantic relationship with but even after the break up 3 years ago, we always remained good friends! Am I wrong for not wanting to let go of my friendship..
