cow milk?

So I was told my son should only have 16 oz a day of milk. And not to give him more night time bottles. But he doesn't eat much so it's hard and he always wants milk thru out the day.. what to do? Any tips to get him off night time bottles?  Bc he loves his milk to go to sleep

My 3 year old still guzzles milk. She wants it multiple times a day. I don't see anything wrong with them drinking milk. It's a good source of protei and vitamins. Who told you he can't have more milk? And most 1 year olds are still drinking tons of milk. This seems really strange to tell someone. Most pediatricians suggest breastfeeding until 2 years old so I'd assume regular milk would be in the same category.

I don't have much advice for the bottle because I breastfed until my little one was over 2 years, but weaning her off of night feedings was hell. I imagine it would be similar with weaning off of a bottle, but again, weaning didn't happen until she was over 2 years old. She cried, I cried, I gave in, which was not smart because it just lengthened the entire weaning process. The best thing you could do is just stick to your guns if they're throwing a tantrum and want their baba. Snuggle them up in a blanky, cuddle them in your arms, and read a book or rock or sing a lullaby until they're calm and ready for bed. Start a bedtime routine that doesn't involve the baba right at bedtime, such as dinner, bath, baba, book, bed. You could also try offering water instead of milk on occasion, or even offer an alternative milk along with cow's, such as goat's milk, which is more nutritious and easier to digest. When I first started my daughter on milk that wasn't my own, I gave her goat's milk and she loved it. Just do what you're comfortable with, although my daughter is 3 now and still gets a sip (not a whole cup) of milk or water before bedtime. You could also try BLW with food, that might help your little one become more interested in foods. When my daughter was becoming more interested in food I always made a habit of offering something new once or twice, or more often, every week, and one of her first foods was avocado, which is easy for them to pick up and eat. My son drinks so much milk and always has. He is 6 and has always loved milk!! I wouldn't be worried.

Who said this, the doctor? And are you trying to transition him off the bottle to cups? I wouldn't be so worried about the quantity of milk. Start using a sippy cup throughout the day. Try praise or rewards for using the cup. Before bedtime, you may want to offer milk or whatever in the sippy cup instead of the bottle. Be patient with the little one and yourself. It'll happen. This is one of those transitions that will just be really hard on all of you for a week and then fine after that. You can wean him off slowly by breaking the 16oz up throughout. He'll cry and you'll cry. Or just go cold turkey and you'll both cry there too. There's no magical answer really but you get through it. When I ditched the pacifier for my first, we didn't sleep for almost 3 days. Then we were totally fine. It was tough but we got through it.
