birth control and darkening facial skin

I took Yaz birth control and it caused my face to have embarrassing dark spots. I haven't taken any birth control since then trying to get my skin to lighten up to it's normal color. However I feel it's necessary for me to go back on birth control but wanted to ask if anyone has taken a birth control pill that didn't cause too many issues, especially facial discoloration. Any input can help, I am doing research as well.
