what is an axillary fever?

I only have an armpit/oral thermometer. My son feels hot, so I left him undressed under the fan for a bit and took his temp. It was 99.0 under his arm. I'm waiting a bit and will take it again. He also has a rash down his upper back and on his face and head. I was told that was normal, but with this temperature is it? Also, is that temp even considered a fever? I'm probably going to take him in regardless because he's only 6 weeks and preterm at that. ☹️

If baby has a temp you dont undress baby and put a fan on baby. Put baby's clothing back on and call the doctor again. The temp is 100F it will tend to go up as night approaches.
Baby will need medicine to control the fever and plenty of breastmilk or formula.
If doctor doesn't respond go to the er for baby to be evaluated for rash, fever and dehydration.

If he has a fever it could be a heat rash but undressing baby won help much because baby can get cold really easy especially with a fever call his pediatrician for advice first... Have you eaten something different ?? It could be an allergy from something different in your diet if your breastfeeding if his formula fed then maybe hes developing a reaction to it.
