can I get the gender blood test at my first appointment?

My first baby appointment is March 9, I'll be a few days short of being 10 weeks. Can I get the blood test that tells me the gender of my baby? I know it's extra but my mother wants it done just as bad as I do since it's her first grandchild so she offered to pay the extra $100 it costs. Will my doctor let me get it done then? I'm not sure how it works.

They say it's best to wait til 10 weeks to ensure your blood has enough cell free DNA to read, but your doctor may do it before then. Find out what brand of test your doctors office gives and make sure your out-of-pocket responsibility will only be $100. Different tests cost different amounts.

Your doctor will generally send you for a prenatal panel after your first appointment so just let her know you want the gender test added! You should be able to get it after 9 weeks. Congratulations!
