quick cash?

I am in need of some cash. My best friend is having a birthday party next month and I want to buy her a good drawing note pad, colored pencils, water color palate, and some good paint brushes. But as everyone knows that takes quite a bit of money. I know two families that just had kids but both have stay at home parents. I could try dog sitting but I wouldn't know where to start. Where I live the population is about 185. Any ideas what I could do and how to start up my business?
