Do you really have to "walk your baby down?"

Question

I was told that if I don't walk, my baby won't come down my birth canal. Do you think there any truth to this?

You don't HAVE to do it but it helps a lot

It sure helps and can make things go faster but baby will come down one way or the other.

Stairs are a bit more effective for "walking baby down". You can also sit on a birthing ball or do squats to mix it up a bit. I like to relax in my tub on my knees with my legs spread wide and my belly hanging down. I just fold my arms and rest my head. Great for relaxing everything down there and spinning your baby in the OA position which is the best for dilating and pushing. GL!

Mine naturally went down. At my 38 week appointment he was already way down there. He came 40 weeks+3 and when I went to labor they said he was already so low, no need to walk. Then could feel his head.
