when can i go to the hospital during my college?

So im studying for Nursing and baby and delivery nurse... I'm still getting my generals in.. I started last year.. When will i be able to do that intern student thingy like to observe and take notes?? Im just curious if any of you women have this major and know? im just so excited to go to the hospital already and do it !
