iud ?

Question

Anyone usinf iud birth control ? Does it hurt when they put it in ? What were your side affects? Do you recommend its safe ?

I just had my iud (mirena) put in last week and I thought it was going to be super painful but it honestly wasn't that bad. I took 3 ibuprofen 30 minutes before my appointment and my doctor also put a numbing cream so that probably helped a lot also. I brought my phone and headphones and just tried distracting myself with music the whole process is about the same time as a single song. Wish someone else would have told me it wasn't that bad because I was so scared. But I'm glad it wasn't bad. And even if it hurts you, it'll be over in just a couple minutes! Good luck!

I have the Skyla and it's great. The pain was AWFUL but once they're done inserting it stops hurting. I felt fine after. It's best to get when you're on your period. My period is almost over and I've only been on it for four days and normally it's kind of heavy and lasts 6-7 now I could change my pad once on a day or just not at all and I'd be 100% fine but I prefer to change it anyway. I'm so glad I got it and whenever I need to get it replace I will. I prefer the IUD over pregnancy.

I have the Mirena and that was the worst pain I've ever felt in my life and I have tattoos/piercings. I bled for two weeks straight, at times the heaviest I've ever bled which was bad. Sometimes I had to change a super tampon every 2 hours. I usually don't get cramps with my period but I did for those two weeks really badly and I was constantly bloated. I've also gotten some acne again, but not bad. Just a couple here and there. Even with all that I went through, I would still get it again if I had the chance. I absolutely love being on it now. I haven't gotten my period since those two weeks end of December/early January aside from a little spotting. I love not having to remember to take a pill every day. I love that it lasts for 5 years as I don't want kids at all. This was definitely the best bc decision I've made.
