Changes while on the patch?

So, I've been on the patch (ortho evra) for about 3 years, and i'm also in a monogamous relationship where we don't really use condoms. The past 2 months i've been more sexually active but also my periods have lasted longer and yesterday i had a super thick white discharge during sex and that's never happened before. does that mean my birth control isn't working and i ovulated? should i get a pregnancy test? would there be any other reason for that to happen? Also, i know the general rule for the patch is it doesn't really work over 198 pounds and while i'm not there i've gained a shit ton of weight over the past few years (about 35 pounds, absolutely no worsening of lifestyle, another topic entirely, still don't freaking get it) and i weigh about 150 so i'm still afraid i've gotten too fat. is there a reason it would stop working?
