Told to wait a year ttc #2 because #1 was delivered by c-sect. Anyone else?

So I had my annual exam yesterday and Dr. said that I should wait a full year (ideally) before conceiving again because of the increased risk of pre-term labor (#1 was emergency C-section at 34weeks5) growth restriction and other complications.
Slightly annoyed as my regular periods have started and SO and I actively tried to conceive this month.
Has anyone else received this advice?

Regardless of the type of delivery, it's recommended that you wait at least a year after giving birth to conceive again (I believe 18mos is the recommended wait). A child conceived too soon after birth is at very high risk for a host of complications including preterm birth and low birth weight. Basically, your body needs to recover before it builds another person.

My doctor actually told me that we shouldn't ttc 3 to 6 months after my c-section. We waited for 9months. It was an easier pregnancy than the first one but I did have some slight bleedings at the  beginning.. They are exactly a year and a half apart.

My doctor said it wait 18 months.  I really want a second and so does my fiancé but we want to give our daughter all of our attention for a year.

No my dr never told me. Had my son last Aug and due with#2 in Aug.

I'm sure our bodies need the time to recover. However we delivered our daughter via c-section Oct 4, 2016 and I am 7 weeks today. My OB never said a word and hasn't said anything about complications yet and I'm always a high risk. Last birth I was last minute pre-eclampsia and HELP.
This time I'm staying on keto diet to off set excessive weight gain

Yes I got the same advice, the uterus needs to fully heal or there's risk of rupturing. If it's a couple months before then it should be okay but I would definitely not try again before 6 months pp.
