Were You/Your Baby Drug Tested at Birth?

So I see on all these weed posts women saying majority of hospitals drug test mothers/babies..and just thought I'd do a poll to see how true this actually is because I've never heard of it happening on a regular basis..?

Yep! My doctor randomly drug tests throughout the pregnancy & once the baby is born.

Usually drug test screenings for mom are done at prenatal visits or at the hospital if they suspect use/don't have any history of parental care. If you test positive for THC (marijuana) at any point, when the infant is born there is a policy unique for every hospital/varies by state as well.

Smoking ciggarettes is harmful for babies, smoking marijuana is harmful for babies.  Moms should stay away from it.

I myself wonder if they actually do this, maybe it's only if they suspect you of doing drugs. I think they do a test at every prenatal visit as they take your urine. Who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

Legally, I don't see how a hospital or doctor's office can drug test you without your consent or your knowledge? Unless you have a parole officer, it's court mandated testing, or your suspected of doing drugs... I don't see how they can just drug test you. I don't do any hard  drugs but I use a cannabis pen to sleep when I'm not pregnant. I know that the thc would still have been in my urine during my first few visits but no one said anything to me after giving them numerous urine samples and a few blood tests. So idk I think it's a scare tactic. I'm not condoning drugs while pregnant... but I don't think women are regularly tested

When we filed the paper work for labor and delivery, they informed us that both mother and baby would be tested. Fine by me! It's not a surprise thing. What's upsetting is that I've known some mothers to risk avoiding doctors and hospitals the entire pregnancy because they were so addicted to whatever substance they were on :(

Idk if we were, it didn't matter though since I don't do drugs...unless you count my mood stablizer and antipsychotic lol

Where I live they only drug test the baby if the mom is suspected of doing drugs or has a history for doing drugs. I'm not too sure about weed. my boyfriends friend smoked weed her entire pregnancy and the day she was induced she smoked so I guess it just all depends.
