dnc at a month??

I have a friend that has been saying she is pregnant. She had a period 2 days later she said she was pregnant. Around a month a go. She started bleeding (Saturday) when her period was due. She saying now that she passed blood clots and went to the hospital and they told her that she had a miscarriage and needs a dnc?! She's never has a positive pregnancy test and if she where she would only be a month... what do you all think ??
