When does my pill become effective?

Hey y'all, I just started taking microgestin FE 1/20 (generic for Loestrin) on the first day of my period, which was three days ago. How long do I have to be on the pill before it's effective as a contraceptive? Also, have any of y'all been on this brand and liked or disliked it? Side effects? I've never been on the pill before 😩

They say give it a week if you start on the first day of your period but i say to be safest give it a month. & i mean a month to have unprotected sex

Did your pill come with a leaflet? Most of them are effective straight away if taken on first day of your period or after 7 days but it should tell you in the enclosed leaflet.
