Is it bad to not want a career?

So I'm 18 and at uni, but I'm just so unmotivated compared to everyone else and I think it's because I'm just not passionate about the end goal: my career. The one thing that makes me happy is having a family and being a house wife but I honestly feel like that's so dumb. Does anyone else feel like this?

Girl I'm 24 and I still don't know what I want to do. I went to college right out of high school and changed my major a total of 4 times the 3 years I was there. I started off as pre-vet then animal science, elementary education, and pre med. I ended up dropping out after my third year because I just couldn't decide what I wanted to do and I didn't want to keep spending money on a degree that wasn't going anywhere. Luckily I got all of my basics and more under my belt for when I go back someday. Well I got married and started a family, and at my ultrasound appointments I was always so fascinated by the science behind medical imaging. So I decided once both my kids are in school I will go back for a degree in sonography. I find it crazy that 18 year olds are expected to know exactly what they want to do by graduation, yet they are expected to ask to go to the bathroom. At 18, you barely know who you are and what you want out of life. My advice would be to go to college and get your basics out of the way, maybe taking a few electives that you think might interest you. You will discover it soon enough. And in the end, of you decide you want to be a housewife/mother, then be one! There is nothing more honorable and rewarding ❤️

At 18, this is the time in your life to explore those options. It's okay to be a full-time wife/mom if that's what you want, but you also need more than that because you're also more than a wife/mom.

I've known I wanted to be a housewife since I was 8 years old.

But I went to college, completed my bachelor's degree, completed a graduate certificate program, and entered the workforce in my chosen career -- all while a single woman. I didn't meet my husband until I was completely done with my schooling.

Can't be a housewife without a spouse, and we never know the timing of that.

I felt unmotivated at first but I learned to motivate myself and work harder in class. There isn't anything wrong with being a housewife but its also a huge risk. Some men trap women like that and I refuse to be one of them. What if you become a house wife and somewhere down the line you two don't work out and he divorces and leaves you with nothing? I've seen many women get on here saying they are trying to escape their house but they have no money or job abd their families live hundreds of miles away. Like I understand college isn't for everyone but at least get some type of experience in work or get a career you can come back to if you decide you want to become a housewife so you wont be or feel trapped.

That's how I feel. And I feel so stupid as everyone says I should wait and that I should want more than that and it's only society telling you that's what you should do. I'm 16 and that's all I've ever wanted tbf. People always say do what makes you happy. I recommend working in a nursery/day care centre as I think you'd like it.

Was exactly the same at 17. There's nothing wrong with it. How can you be passionate about something if you haven't found your "calling" as such. I was 21 before I found mine. Having an honest and dedicated interest in something powers the passion and therefore the want for a career.
