ovulation kits

So I'm officially trying as of today , I've just been saying for the past year if it happened it happened , but now I'm on a mission . Started prenatals and got Clear Blue ovulation kit . Anyone else on a 28 day cycle ? Just curious as to when to start testing , my gyno told me 10-12 days after the first day of my period but wanted to know if I should test sooner ? Thank you in advance
