Birth Control??

Are there any side effects to stopping your period completely with birth control?? I'm starting the pill this week and I'm a little nervous suddenly about completely stopping my period.. Thr doctor said their clinics pro OBGYN said it's totally normal and works great and like most women are doing it but suddenly I'm like freaking a little?? I'm so used to having really horrible periods life with out them is gonna be crazy!!
