Wet diapers

This might be dumb, but how wet does a diaper need to be for it to "count"? Like I'm guessing at the frequency I usually change my son he's probably peed a couple times. So say I change his diaper like 7 times in a 12 hour period and they're all wet, is that a sufficient amount? Do they have to be a certain degree of wet?
