Marginal Cord Insertion
Hi ladies! Yesterday I had my anatomy scan, having a baby girl (yay!) and all parts/organs are healthy! Feeling so blessed! The only thing that was concerning was that I have what is called Marginal Cord Insertion. This is where the cord insertion is on the side, or margins, of the placenta. Usually, the cord is attached to the middle of the placenta for optimal nutrition. The doctor didn't seem very concerned, but now I have to have an ultrasound to check on growth every 4 weeks. Since the cord is on the side of the placenta, it could be more difficult for nutrients to make tier way to our sweet babe, and can cause low birth weight and a few other complications; pre term labor being one of them 😩 a lot of times MCI turns out to be completely fine and everything goes smoothly. Of course now that I've researched and talked to my doctor about everything, I AM A NERVOUS WRECK 😢 I am so worried about my baby. Has anyone had MCI before? What was your experience? There is not much I can do as far as preventing any risk, so it's in Gods hands now!
