a pet's last meal?

Just curious if anyone has done this. I bought 3 steaks (first time in 5 years) for my oldest rescue that I am taking to the vet tomorrow to be put to sleep. He flew through the first plate, but halfway through the second plate he stopped. He looked sad. He didn't even "bury" it when he was done (beagle habit). Now I'm upset and crying wondering if I should have researched this first?? If this was a bad idea and a way to make his condition worse, I'm never gonna forgive myself! If he's gonna be up all night with stomach pain I'm seriously going to hate myself and the bad luck I always have. I can tell he is in more pain than what he wants to admit, and I didn't want to make it worse by giving him a goodbye dinner 💔💔💔. Do you guys think the excitement + thick steak just got him tired really easy? I really hope I didn't do anything wrong.
