Did you pre wash your new car seat cover in baby soap?

Ok it's been 18 years since my last baby... I know everything is supposed to be pre-washed in baby laundry soap before using but does that include the covering on the car seat?

Just make sure you follow the instructions in your car seat manual. Many of them are handwash only and you can only use gentle soap- nothing with bleach or brighteners or enzymes or Oxyclean, etc.

I washed it but mostly because it was used by my son 4 years ago and then "waited" in the cellar for 2 years. 
I can't remember if I washed it before we used it for our son 🤔

I didn't. No specific reason just didn't cross my mind 😅.
You don't need special soap for baby (unless you prefer it). Hubby has allergies so we use hypoallergenic detergent anyway.

I love the baby smell so we get the Scentsy pink things in Dreft and throw it in our load .. but detergent wise we use the pods.. the free and clear kind.. it's so much easier to move around and not messy.. ( clumsy ) some people don't take all precautions... Not nocking but we all have sensitive skin.. so free and clear it is.

I use all free and clear for my daughter anyways because she has sensitive skin. That's what I used on all of the baby's clothes as well. 
I washed the carseat cover per the washing instructions on the tag. And then wiped the plastic down with some water and dish soap to make sure it was clean. 
But my daughter has been sick recently so I'm just taking precautions so that baby doesn't get sick as well when he gets here. I honestly think it is a personal choice thing.

I pretty much washed everything that has to do with him in baby soap just for the new baby smell 😂 even the curtains in his room lmao

I didn't use any special detergent as I didn't with my first. But I did wash the car seat both times. Especially as this one was in storage for the last couple months so I wanted to make sure it didn't smell.
