GTT test - my experience and advice

Charli
Hi ladies I just wanted to pass on some advice, I went for my Glucose tolerance test today. I went alone as I was not really prepared or forewarned of what the outcomes may be.
Ladies please remember to take a book you will be there for two hours, if you can take someone with you please do so.
If your from the U.K. Like me you will need 500ml of original lucozade
I had my first blood test and drank my lucozade watched by the nurse and went out to sit for my two hours. An hour in and I was fine however I got very hot and felt very sick, I stood up to go to the toilet just in case however got lightheaded giddy and slightly deaf, I unfortunately passed out and was helped by our lovely doctors and nurses in the practice after a check over and a 45 min sleep in the back room I had my other blood test and then after tea and a biscuit I was able to go home three hours after arriving.
I want to stress this isn't normal and to be expected but I wanted to make people aware that this is a possibility and if I had known I wouldn't have been alone or so worried as I was unprepared.
