Who has a emotional support (legit) dog?

Hi. I'm trying to get my dog to be a emotional support animal for flying and I want to be leaving within the month so I'm trying to get all the info ASAP.

Does a emotional support dog have to be trained to go on a plane or just have the paperwork from a doc??

I'm getting mixed answers from friends saying their friends are doing it and they have to be trained before taking it into work (maybe a work place and a airline are different🤔) and another friend saying their friend is training their dog to be a service dog but for a emotional support dog you don't need training you just need to have your doc write you that the dog is, and get a proper ID tag and/or vest for them...
So help if you actually went through this!

Emotional support animals, therapy animals, and comfort animals do NOT qualify as service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Businesses are absolutely NOT required to allow access to an emotional support animal, though they can allow access if they want. The airline probably won't make any exceptions for an emotional support dog.

Service animals do not require any particular certification or liscense, and it is ILLEGAL for a business owner to ask you what your disability is, require you to show a license for a service animal, or request that the animal demonstrate the service that it is trained to perform. If a service animal becomes unruly or is poorly behaved, the business owner has the right to eject the animal.

I have a friend who is a paralympian. He has a service dog. Going around a bar hopping him, I learned a lot about ADA and service animal laws.

If you have anemia and hypoglycemia that causes seizures your dog would need to be trained early on to recognize the signs you're iron is low and you're about to have a seizure to cue to you. You can't just register a dog as an ESA or SA. There is extensive training involved along with dr/psychiatric recommendations. I agree with what Layla said and think you need to do a little more personal research from reputable sites instead of a community board and word of mouth from friends.
