My birth story. ❀ Very long read. πŸ™‚

Maggie

First time mommy here. 😍 My little girl, she was due on Valentines day but decided to make her appearance 6 days early.

At our 30 week ultrasound they said she was measuring 10 days ahead; my Dr said the ultrasounds aren't usually accurate. She was wrong. πŸ™„

One morning I woke up to some period like cramps and brushed it off as a bad stomach ache. Few hours later I woke up again and my stomach was getting tight along with the cramps. I sat on the edge of our bed doing my breathing exercises. My SO heard me and instantly wanted to go to the hospital, I told him they have to be at least a minute long and 3-5 minutes apart. I contracted all day and it continued on for 3 days straight with only dilating to a 2, very thin and soft cervix but slow slow progress.

We walked and walked for those 3 days to get labor going and in hopes of my water breaking. At 39 weeks pregnant, I had gained 60lbs and was soo swollen all over. It was bad, but no signs of eclampsia(sp). They sent us home cause I wasn't dilated enough. On the 3rd day, my contractions were lasting about a minute long and 1-5 minutes apart. Excruciating back labor too. I couldn't handle the pain.

My SO took me to the hospital to be monitored and the nurses had contacted another hospital to talk about induction. I didn't need it due to contracting on my own. I was so upset and felt defeated for making such little progress over those long 3 days. So I decided to get in the shower, had it scorching hott to help dull my contractions. It felt amazing, I stood there for an hour. Lol. As soon as I got out and laid on my bed, my water broke ! Soo much fluid just gushing all over the place. I had to stand up because it hurt to even sit or lay in bed. I progressed super fast after that. 3hrs later I felt the urge to push, they wanted me to wait cause the Dr's were switching shifts. I was so upset and in so much pain; I told them to hurry. After 2 hours of pushing, our daughter Alana had made her appearance. 2/8/17 at 10:44 am. Little did we know that she was going to be 9lbs. πŸ˜ƒ I had an unmedicated vaginal birth, that ended in 6 stitches. I finally recovered from l&d to share my long and wonderful story. Thanks for reading.
