Can You Be Thinking About Nothing?

Question

You know when you ask a friend or partner what they're thinking and they say, "Nothing"? I have read that men are capable of thinking about nothing, but that women's brains tend to be on overdrive. I know mine never stops as long as I'm awake. So, what do you think? Is it really poisoned to be thinking about nothing at all? Discuss!

I've heard that men's brains contain various boxes. They open one and think about whatever is in that box. That being said, they also have a box with nothing in it - the nothing box. Supposedly they open this box a lot - so when they tell you they're thinking about nothing, it's probably true.

Women though, don't have boxes. Our brains are filled with organized messes. Which is why we can't think about nothing :P

Haha my SO and his family have a debate about this all the time. His two brothers swear they can just turn their brains off but me and my SO both say that we are always thinking about something even if it's super insignificant. I wish I could turn my brain off!

I don't even stop when I'm sleeping... dream way too much, and get to sleepwalk sometimes, not fun to wake up and find things where they werent. But It is posibble if you meditate. If not, is way too hard  to think in nothing.

When I say "nothing" what I usually mean is "nothing of any consequence." I drift from grocery lists to craft projects I've been meaning to try to "did I leave that coffee in my car?" ...it's exhausting. I wish I could legitimately say nothing and mean it!

It is possible to clear your mind, like meditation, or spacing out, but absolutely nothing no, theres is always something at least at the back of your mind, its really just a saying to state that you are not thinking about anything important or worth talking about

I think it means they have nothing heavy weighing on their mind at that moment, nothing specific.

But I have thought of nothing. Like discussing space, time, the meaning of life... I have thought down to nothing. I go numb. I feel like I'm not there then I snap to like I was passed out or something.

I think that when people say they are thinking about nothing they mean nothing important. Like I am always thinking about something, but sometimes it's just song lyrics or my favorite part of a book. It's not like I'm stressing about something, but my mind is always moving one way or another.
