introducing candy &/or fast food to your child
When did you find it appropriate (if ever) to introduce into your child's diet and why? I have this theory that if you don't introduce bad eating habits, they won't grow to make bad eating habits choices on their own. Do you agree?
I'll add that I grew up in a family where my dad is a retired athlete and mom is from the Bay Area with healthier "California girl" eating habits (we now live in the good ol healthy state ofTEXAS😆), so we rarely ever had fast food, or candy.. or anything that wasn't homemade. We never bought soda, but drank sprite or sweet tea if we were out eating or something. When we went out to eat, they made sure we at LEAST had a veggie on our plate. I grew up with great eating habits bc my parents taught me how to take care of myself...
I'm asking also because my in laws have the worst eating habits and health issues. They feed my 3yo step daughter crap ALL THE TIME & she's completely addicted. She literally wakes up in the morning and asks for candy. My SO also does not have the best eating habits on his own, bc that's not what he was taught. He was always in shape bc he was an athlete in high school & college, but now he's gaining weight bc he like slim jims, ruffles, soda , etc when he goes to work and sometimes at home (I don't dictate everything he eats, to save from nagging)... I cook dinner every night and he loves my cooking, but if he was single, he would eat wing stop every day!
We have a baby due in April and I'm worried about her picking up bad eating habits from her fathers side of the family. I'm super anal about these things but since I don't have the same control over my step daughter that I will over my biological daughter, I worry about coming off as a bitch when I tell them I don't want her eating crap.. I'm usually VERY outspoken but my MIL is such a crybaby & sensitive 🙄
