TTC: Transition from Maiden to Mother?

I've thought a little about this, and I don't think I can wrap my head around it. Anyone else have thoughts about this?

I definitely feel like the transition from maiden to mother really happened to me when I got pregnant. I adore my daughter and am excited about the second on the way, but I've never been one to really enjoy kids. And even now, other people's kids are generally more tolerated than enjoyed. I was 30 when I got pregnant. It all comes to us differently.

Interestingly, since then, I have started to take on the roll of matriarch in my partner's family: hosting family events and birthdays. I'm a kitchen witch, so I've always enjoyed feeding people.

Oh this has been my most magical experience! I feel more connected to all around me than ever! The lightning through my veins, my soul is on passionate fire with energy! Mother has been my best phase yet...connecting more than I ever have with my Great Mothers! My mother moved in after being widowed and has found her grandma-crone phase to be the best of all. Life rocks!

I think it's a long process and you get there at a different age or time than others. I'm 25 and just now beginning to notice some minuscule motherly traits about me when I'm around my young nieces and nephew. But it'll be years before I fully transition in to that mode.

As a mother to be who is getting here a bit later than most (36) I feel I have spent the last decade more as a "Queen" than feeling maidenly or motherly (and not wise enough to be a crone!) I have gotten the uncommon opportunity to live for myself while stil relatively young ... And all the while looking forward to life as a mother too. I have not felt the transition so much yet at just six weeks. It will come.

I have been the motherly type since I was 15. Around that time I think I started to change. I started careing for my nephews and nieces full time, while there parents were Ill. But I didn't feel the full transition into that phase until I had my own daughter even tho she is no longer with me. <3
