Help with cat

I'm sorry, I know this isn't related to humans. My cat hurt his leg somehow and has stopped eating. I took him to the vet this morning and the vet just gave him pain meds after an X-ray, but I know it's dangerous for cats to not eat. How can I get him to eat and will he be ok? He's only a year old and otherwise very healthy :( pregnant and stressed and my husband thinks I'm over reacting

Thanks all! He's eating some this morning but still not moving around a lot. I fed him some tuna and he accidentally chomped my finger so hard he but through my nail! Worth it though :) his brother kitty is taking care of him too it's really cute

Glad he's eating!

Buy the grossest smelling food you can. Smelly wet and nasty. Or used canned tuna. If he won't eat it call the vet again. Sending good vibes for your cat. ❤️

Wet food, baby food, straight up tuna, whatever will peak there intrest, i have hand feed my cat before when they were really sick and unable to eat, also maybe some milk (although its not necessarily good for grown cats) but may get em intrested in eating again

We had a cat that wouldn't est for days, but he perked up weirdly enough when we got out some ham... It seemed to save him. Strange, but worth a shot! Hope he feels better soon!!!

Try chicken baby food. When my cat was sick and refused to eat, I was able to get him interested in that. Or treats!

Try wet cat food. It smells nasty to us but cats love it. Mine love the chicken the most but try a couple cans and see which the cat will eat. I know my cats go bonkers over wet cat food

Or get some cat milk. Cats also love that stuff . Don't give him cow milk though that can make them sick but cat milk is good. They sell it at Kroger and Walmart and a lot of places

Have you had much experience with your vet? My cat gets into a fight bad enough to cause absesses about once a year. Last year it was bad enough that he stopped eating. You might consider going to a different vet if you're new to this one.

True giving him some wet food. If he won't eat that after a day or so I'd go back to the vet.

Poor kitty. I would take him back, may need to be on an iv for a day or so.

He's not interested in wet food and it's been over 24 hours since he's eaten or had anything to drink :(

That is so stressful. I'm sorry your kitty isn't well. I have two cats and I worry about them even when they're healthy. I would say that if kitty still isn't interested in food after another day take him/her back to the vet or to another, because it truly is bad for cats to not eat their bodies react very badly to starvation. I hope everything works out ok!

Syringe water into its mouth still it will at least stay hydrated.

yes, syringe the water in. they have no option than to take the water if you slowly syringe it. when my cat over heats I syringe water in her mouth. put the syringe in the side of her mouth and slowly syringe it in.

Thanks I'm more worried about his water than food intake. I'll try this.
