First appointment? Heart beat??

I have my first nurse visit today for blood work, tests and history. Did anyone get to atleast hear the heart beat thru Doppler? My first pregnancy 5yrs ago my first appointment was at 5 weeks and I remember hearing my daughter beautiful heart beat via Doppler but with past pregnancies (different doctor, and those pregnancies I did not make it this far) they said no. Now I'm seeing anothet different doctor and am 6w 5d and I want nothing more than to hear those thumps! My u/s isn't until the 31st, it's just so far away! Anyone get to hear or request a Doppler?
