How long do you wait before telling for family?

I'm 6weeks gone and so excited. We haven't told any of our family members yet. How long do people normally wait??

I'm happy to wait 12 weeks to tell the world but I really want to tell my brother and mother in law now. My Hubby keeps putting it off and doesn't seem to want to tell our family until the 12week scan??

We told our mothers at 5 weeks but didn't tell anyone else until we had our 12 week scan to make sure everything was ok because our previous pregnancy ended in miscarriage when we thought we were 13 weeks and baby stopped growing at 7 weeks, with that pregnancy we told everyone as soon as we found out so we decided to wait this time. But it was nice to have my mother's support last time when I miscarried so I think that telling your mom and close family is ok but I wouldn't tell everyone until you have your 12 week scan. (Just my opinion)
