Sip n See over weekend?

I've been considering doing a sip n see after my son is born instead of a big baby shower -- I really like the idea of it being low pressure, in my own home and with catered food and drinks. Plus, I think it's more fun to have the baby actually there. However, I have kind of a big family - so I think I'd want to spread it out over a weekend (the option to come see the baby on either Saturday or Sunday). Have any of you done this? Or heard of anything like this? I would do brunch-y refreshments and drinks both days.
