hcg v. progesterone

Went back for my follow up blood test and hcg more than doubled and looks good but doc said progesterone was "a little low." They didnt make a big deal and said that my body may kick up production on its own but put me on a progesterone supplement "as a precaution" in case in doesn't. Anyone else been through this with this or prior pregnancies? Of course, Google was mixed reviews, some women hashing out gory details of miscarriage and some women saying their babies are fine and it was no big deal. Anyone here dealt with that?
