Late on my period

I'm late by 4 days I've had few pains in my stomach but still no period I've gone into a world of my own were I'm just quite and don't speak my partner keeps saying what's wrong but honestly they isn't Im just quite I've taken a test and its negative how long do u leave it to take a pregnancy test once your late please ?
