I feel like an idiot talking to guys

This guy I spoke to with a few messages about him singing he said I was beautiful and gorgeous etc. the convo ended quickly so I sent him another during the day asking if he listens to this other artist and he did. We chatted and then nothing.

I feel like I like him but the problem is I'm an idiot and sent him a message tonight thanking him for being so sweet the other day calling me beautiful etc. he read the message. No reply. I always think of these stupid things then say it then nothing is said back and I look stupid. He may be out drinking with friends ( it was sent at 9pm) but I feel like I'm making excuses. am I dumb for saying more and thanking him!? Who does that!!
