Can you pump too much ?

I'm a FTM & my baby drinks 3oz of milk every 2 hours. I usually pump for 30-40 mins & only end up getting a little over 3oz 😕. I just feel like I'm pumping all day every day 🙃. I do formula feed her a few times a day to give my boobs a break. Or when I feel like I'm just not pumping enough milk. I wanted to know if there is such a thing as pumping too much or too frequently.

Make sure you are drinking enough water and eating properly.
It should not take 30-40 minutes to pump just 3oz. Pumping is far less effective than just nursing your child btw. You'll need to speak with a lactation consultant.

You could try a power pump. 20 minites on 10 off 10 on 10 off 10 on off .. 3 times a day for 3 days. Also, stay hydrated and make sure you eat. 30-40 minutes is a little long. As soon as you see milk come through do a "let down" on the Medela you have a button to press. After milk stops turn off then turn on again wait for milk to come in and do another "let down". It won't be much, but over time it will add up.
