Industrial Piercing

So I got my industrial Piercing  two years ago and it still is SO painful. After a year of it still hurting I went to the doctor to see if I should remove it or not and they said it looked okay, it only hurts because cartilage takes a long time to heal. Well fast forward another year and it still hurts. It can go weeks at a time where it doesn't hurt at all and I think it's finally healed. But it's like if I sleep on that side too long at night, get it snagged on my shirt or hair, myself or someone accidentally hits it, it will hurt for for at least a month and become really swollen. I know it is not infected. I  on't know what to do about it. I still clean it everyday and put tea tree oil on it twice a week. I used to use bacitracin ointment that so many people recommended but it really made no difference. Anyone have any advice?
