6-8 weeks?

I was told today by co workers that I don't get an 8 week leave for having a c section and that our job forces us to come back at 6 weeks even for a c section. I always swore it was 6 for vaginal and 8 for c section. Am I wrong?

My doctor released me back to work at 6 weeks pp after my c-section. I have FMLA, so I was able to take 16 weeks, but only 4 of those were paid.

If your in the US and your employer meets the criteria for FMLA and you have been employed by them for over a year then they are legally obligated to keep your job (or a comparable one) available to you for 12 weeks following the birth or adoption of a child regardless of whether you deliver vaginally or by c-section. If your employer gives you paid leave during this time, the pay they provide andfor how long is completely up to them. If you have short term disability insurance then it would go based on the policy terms. Mine gives you 6 weeks of pay at 60% salary (either delivery type) but the first two weeks are excluded. So actually 4 weeks at 60% pay. My employer requires me to take my PTO during leave and I will also have to pay up front for my insurance premiums.

My OB says 4wk recovery from vaginal and 6wk recovery from CSection unless there are other complications. So that's what my work is giving me.

You can get disability pay for 8 weeks with a c section and additional 12 weeks for fmla but only 6 of those weeks are paid. Thats what the disability office told me.

I believe my old company did 6 weeks unless directed by a doc. Then they would do whatever the doc suggested, like 8 weeks for c sec.  we also had short term disability and fmla that we would use to get us a full 12 weeks tho. And the short term was 6 weeks for a vaginal and 8 for a c section, from what I remember. However, I'm sure each company is different

Most places no matter what type of birth it's 6weeks unless doctor orders longer or you can get flma
