Friday early evening experienced menstrual like cramps coming every half hour for about 5 hours...10-11pm cramps start coming every 10-15 minutes...from 1am to 3 am contractions are coming every 10 min turned to every 8-7 min turning into every 5-6 mins. This would be my second child and I was to give birth at stony brook hospital about 40 min drive from my house. Around 3:30 I get in contact with midwife which is also convinced im in prelabor and to start heading to hospital. We arrive at triage at about 4:15 am and after the routine check up turns out im 50% effaced and only 3cm dilated...they send us to go for a 2 hour walk to help with dilation. 2 hours later we come back to the same news nothing has changed and to top everything off the contractions I was feeling almost entirely disappeared. We were about to be sent home when the midwife orders a sonogram to be performed to check on fluid levels and baby's status. They decide to admit us because they discovered the amniotic fluid was dangerously low (under 5). They gave me some cervidil to help rippen my cervix, thankfully it took effect in a couple hours and started active labor. Dilated to 5cm, got an epidural. It was about 3pm when i got relief from epidural took a 2 hour nap received a low dose of pitocin to help with contractions...at 8:30 100% effaced and 10cm dilated midwives waited till I felt urge to push. Baby Adrian was born at 9:02pm 3/11/17 after 4 min. of pushing. No tearing no complications. Enjoyed skin to skin and hopefully on a good breastfeeding journey....
