Mirena??

Question

Anyone who's had Mirena, did it cause you acne or affect your skin at all? i'm considering getting it but i've dealt with hormonal acne for about 6 years now and usually the pill would clear it up but i've read that Mirena can cause it in the first year. If not Mirena have you tried a non-hormonal IUD and liked it? thanks!

I also had mirena with no side affects. My periods got lighter and less amount of time.

It didn't help nor hurt my acne. I had it for five years.

I have had mirena placed twice and will be getting a third after baby. I have cystic acne and I never noticed a difference. I also have been on Depo before and nothing there either.

I had Mirena a put in at 19, and kept it for the full 5 years. I was hoping by the time I was 24, my acne might have continued because of the hormones with the IUD, so I had it replaced with the Paraguard. Unfortunately, nothing changed. I had tried dermatologists and facials and different medicated ointments. I'm an esthetician, for goodness sakes.  I didn't wear makeup, and I knew all the tricks to help with acne. I finally went to a new doctor and asked for a hormone check, because that was the only thing left I could think of. He asked if I would try something for a month before getting any further testing done. He seriously just told me to pick up a bottle of Hibiclens from Walmart, and start washing my face with it. It's an antiseptic handwash that they usually use at the hospitals to scrub in before surgery.  It kills bacteria. Seriously,  sh@+ you not, my acne cleared up, after fighting with it for 14 years. You may want to look into it, or ask your doctor. You don't need a prescription, they sell it with the wound care and rubbing alcohol at drug stores.
