I've always thought no as they don't remember but when we reccently had a discussion about our little mans 1st birthday I wanted it to be small but then you invite one person you have to invite others or risk offending someone plus we have/will be invited to a few 1 year olds birthday parties so you have to reciprocate and invite hem in turn and then it just will end up being a proper party... sigh lol I hate organizing things.. I'm not good at it... I'm a go with the flow type of person lol

My birthday is dec 22nd so on my 1st, my aunts dressed up as elves and we had a santa give out gifts, so it was pretty big! Lmao, but of course I don't remember it! I think it just depends on the family and what they want etc..

It was big for my family. My mother had these special cakes make for my sis and I and when we turned 18 they had them made again.
