Should my baby be speaking?

I can't decide if I'm stressing out for no reason or if I am rightfully concerned. My daughter is 13 months old and does not speak any real words. She says many sounds (like dada, mama, and many more) and has for a very long time but never looks at something and calls it a specific word.

She babbles nonstop and responds when you ask questions like she's holding a conversation but it's all babble. I would just feel so much better if she would look at her dad and say "dada" or at me and say "mama" but she just runs around a babbling.

I know many children are saying multiple words at this age. I just don't know at what point I should be concerned or if this is just another one of those "every child learns at their own pace" kind of moments and everything is perfectly fine.

I hear you. My son does the same thing: "says" mama, dada, etc but isn't connecting those words with us so I don't think it counts. He did say ball consistently for a few days about 2 weeks ago but he's since stopped, which bummed me out.

Normal!! I have 4 kids. 1st was starting small sentences right around 1. 3rd barely talked till she was 3. The other 2 fall in the middle. All are totally fine developmentally and have no issues at all. It really is one of those things they will just do at their own pace. :)

Just this month she has started saying "daddy" "momma" "kitty" and "doggy" in her own baby way but you can tell that's what she's saying bc she uses the words correctly when she sees one of us or a cat/dog. It's super cute! All babies learn at their own rate- it will happen, soon!

I thought my daughter was confused because whenever I'm with her she calls for "dadadada".  That got annoying real quick and i was convinced she couldn't possibly be looking for her dad when she was in the comforting arms of her beautiful smart funny mother 😆
But recently she's been around dogs and now she "gets" the whole "dog" word and is obsessed w dogs.  This just happened within the last 2 weeks.  It'll come!

My 13 month old is the same way. She really only says mama and dada. She said bye bye a few weeks ago but only the one time and I can't get her to say it again. 😢
