Does stress affect your blood pressure?

I went to the Dr. today and my blood pressure was high, she told me to go and check my blood pressure tomorrow again. Lately I've been very nervous and stressed about some stuff with my family and my bf, can this be what made my blood pressure go up?

I used to have white coat syndrome so bad that my blood pressure and pulse where always through the roof the first time they took it at the doctor. They would have to wait a while, talk a bit, then talk it again to make sure it was a fluke. So yea, shirt bouts or long bouts of stress can absolutely affect it.

There was roadwork in front of my doctors office so even when we left early I had a 15 minute freak out about us being late right outside the office 😭 then as soon as I'd get inside, they'd take my blood pressure and it would be sky high! My hubby kept telling them it was his fault for leaving too late, so eventually they started taking my blood pressure at the end of my appointments and it would be find 😊
