Medical tourism: IVF abroad?

Question

Hi all. I'll be 41 this Saturday, and we're TTC #1. Once my doctor gets my thyroid under control, I will do probably 3 rounds of IUI. If they don't work, I'm thinking about going back home to Turkey during my summer vacation (I'm a teacher) for IVF. The cost is about half of what it is here in San Francisco. Has anyone tried IVF abroad?

Hi yakamos, I personally haven't tried it but have plenty of family and friends who have. They did it because they had family in those countries to help them through the process and because like you mentioned it was half the cost.

Their experiences were great - they went to Colombia and another to Ecuador

I live in Turkey and SAS 
Was on the ivf journey but actually got pregnant with fertility drugs in the waiting time (shock to all) our health care here esp private which I presume you'll be going for is imo fabulous- I was working with a clinic in Izmir 
Not sure if I can offer much in way of system after assessments and care as I only did a investigation and start but if I can help with the country let me know
