What do you think about White people using the slang version of the "n-word"?

Not the racist version of the word, but the version you hear on hip-hop songs.
I want to preface this by saying I am not a fan of either version, and it has never, nor will ever, come out of my mouth. As you can see, I'm not even comfortable TYPING either version of the word. That being said, I also don't fully know the legitimate history of the word other than the the negative connotation associate with it being spewed from racist lips. I also recognize that the slang version is commonly used among people within the racial group.
My husband and his brother use it frequently. They are both African American. So I guess it doesn't phase me when I hear them saying it to one another.
However...
I've seen people White people post things on social media using the word, and I can't help but feel some type of way about it. I know everyone has a right to say what they want, I respect that. I'm not going to chastise anyone about it. But it did make me curious as to how people feel about White people using the slang term, and not necessarily directed at any specific racial group.
The example I saw was someone (who is White) posted something to the effect of "Bring on the day n***as." My initial reaction was thinking,😳 "WTF?" but this person isn't the first White individual I've seen posting stuff like that. I said something to one person I saw a while back asking why they felt it was ok, and the person's response was that "no one had ever had a problem with it - White or Black - so I shouldn't either."
I recongnize that it's not my place to censor what people say, that's not what I'm trying to do by any means. I just wondered how people -regardless of racial or ethnic identity - felt about White people using the slang version of the word.
I appreciate any feedback.
