Perfect age gap between children

I'm just curious. I have a four month old and already want another (plus I'm already 34 so don't want to put it off too long). Due to life circumstances we will probably wait until December to try again which would make our kids like 22 months apart. Is this crazy? What do you think is the perfect time between children?
